Sorry guys. It's been a while since we accepted new members. Things became strict when spammers started flooding the board so we started validating. People that look like normal people we've started validating accounts. There are many questionable users though.. So we're thinking of a way to sort these others who can't be found out very well.

You users that registered a year ago in early 2008, we're sorry for the wait, but we're validating you guys. Hopefully we didn't take too long.

10 Year Mark Approaches & Disbanding the offline Sonic Club

As some of you may know, Sonic Club existed offline a few years before hitting the internet. On the internet there has been attempts to bring the membership of this group to life. While this may or may not be done, one thing has been decided for sure this year. The Sonic Club that once existed offline will be disbanded completely and cease operations. What this means is our old outdated "paper records" will be destroyed and a new online system will be considered. So this does not mean an end, but a true migration for Sonic Club into the paperless era. We somewhat abandoned the old system years ago, but after some consideration we decided to close the doors of the real "club".

To conclude this could mean we can get more organized and do much better on this project within the near future. Sonic Club is in the revival phase, not ever dead, but just dorment. The re-awakening will happen, and our goals haven't changed. In addition to our old plans, we have many new ones to make us well known to the community like we were back in 1999 and the few years following that.

When early 2009 comes, it'll soon hit our 10 years mark. That's right, Sonic-Club.Com will be 10 years old, one of the longest lasting Sonic sites out there. We've withstood the test of time, and hopefully we're now ready to take our place back at the top where we got so close to being at one time. This dream never died, nor did it fade. Expect a hybrid of the past and the present as we like tradition and will not dismiss Sonic's greatest years from the spotlight.

10 Years Approaches!
Goodbye sonicclub.dns2go.com... & More

We have considered bringing it back, and almost did a couple times, but it's likely that our "home server" address at dns2go won't be returning. It costs us money to host there, ever since quite a few years ago when DNS2GO became a paid service. So.. We have made the decision to move on from them and instead possibly have a more local address like something.sonic-club.com. We have arranged an easy and cheaper method.

In other news our server PC finally decided to break down on us.

It was running Windows Server 2003, and being the experienced computer user I am, I decided it was a hardware problem. I tried many things, such as using a different power supply since that's a common issue, but it was not a virus or anything. The server just suddenly decided to go bad, probably a motherboard problem.

That server did a lot for us while we had it, including streaming Sonic Club Radio, FTP and HTTP, and various other services which we had setup on it, even sometimes functioning as a normal PC, it's been through a lot I guess, and it ran and ran for many many hours.

The specs of it were pretty low-end, but it was purchased in 2003 or so, and for the time it was a pretty good computer. I forget the exact ghz, but it was probably atleast 1.5ghz, with 256mb of RAM. It also had a 60gb or so hard drive, which the hard drive started acting strange and corrupting files only a couple months before the death of the Server PC. I WARN YOU TO AVOID COMPUTERS WITH QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES HARD DRIVES, THEY SUCK. It was an HP desktop computer and that's the hard drive that was in it. I heard Seagate was a bad hard drive brand.. well the new server PC has it..

This project is far from canned! I have since invested in another PC to act as a server. I spent a few hundred or so on a new desktop PC with a 250gb hard drive, 3ghz Intel Dual Core processor, 2gb RAM, and a 512mb video card. It unfortunately has Vista installed, and vista runs very nicely on that PC, however, I don't know if it's an OS that's suited for a server-like environment. I'll figure out a way to pull this off. Overall it's a nice PC. I hope sometime I can keep my visitors happy (what visitors? lol) by streaming Sonic Club Radio again sometime.

It's not a complete loss, and I keep saying this. I have been studying many things so when I do go to finally do the Sonic Club 3.0, it will be amazing i'm sure. I have high hopes for my project, but like I said, I don't know when I will get around to being able to do it with all the other issues in life that have come up. I'll try my best not to let you guys down though, Sonic Club has withstood the test of time, since January 1999 this site has been standing, and it's been through a lot, bandwidth thieves that make our hosting cost tripple the amount per month, years of few visitors at times, but we're still here.

I have a lot of plans, but unfortunately not all my plans include the site, and I don't plan to can this project.

Bye for now, thanks for reading.

Server Upgrade

We have now upgraded to a more expensive hosting package. We have more than 3x more the resources to work with now and have the space and bandwidth to take on even the biggest Sonic sites, much more capable than before anyway.

I'd also like to mention that I think we're done with dns2go as a local-server provider. They were nice when they lasted, but it was a bigger expense.

sonicclub.dns2go.com will no longer be in use by us, probably never again.

I have found a free solution which is much better that will allow me to link directly to our local server through something.sonic-club.com. Everything relating to this site will now be more localized with the network and we should now always have a reliable address for these things.

With these upgrades i'd like to say the SC Server that runs off our internet connection isn't ready yet. There's much maintenance and upgrading to do. We would like to have the following:

HTTP (with PHP, MySQL, and possibly other scripting systems and databases)
FTP
IRC
SHOUTcast
DNS

Our local server still has the limits of DSL, but the internet speed has drastically increased since the earlier days of SCR: Sonic Club Radio. We should be able to support more listeners, however, I don't think it can be suited for a very good file server.

We're going to look into the better technology and features that servers have these days so it isn't only limited to the above.

The cost of the upgrades I did is slightly more, but definitely worth it. I hope that were are people willing to donate when we're in need though, of course, we probably won't be asking for donations until the release of Sonic Club 3.0.

I also don't know when we will be working more on the 3.0 project or when more progress will be made, but it isn't discontinued. Also, this time isn't all a waste, things are being learned, such as ways to stop hotlinking problems before that Sonic-Club.Com faced and an easier to update interface that's PHP based.

That's all for now.

ESRB Watch: Sonic The Hedgehog on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360

There already is a retail game called "Sonic The Hedgehog" on the Xbox 360 that has similar game play to that of the Sonic Adventure games.

This news, however, talks about the classic Sonic The Hedgehog games from the SEGA Genesis being released on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360.

QUOTE

ESRB Watch: Ecco, Sonic on 360
Is this the start of the "SEGA Vintage Collection?"
by Daemon Hatfield

May 15, 2007 - The latest list of games which have been submitted for rating to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) includes both Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360. This gives credence to recent evidence that SEGA is planning to release classic games from its catalog on the 360 as part of a "SEGA Vintage Collection," starting with Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic was on display running on the 360 at E3 last year, but has since dropped off the radar.

Ecco the Dolphin was a SEGA Genesis game released back in 1992 that put players in control of the title character, a dolphin in search for his missing pod. The series was a key franchise for the Genesis and the original was one of the first releases on the Wii Virtual Console.

As always, an ESRB listing isn't an official confirmation that a game is on the way, but evidence that SEGA has submitted the title to receive a rating for the 360.

Source: IGN.com (Article Link)

I guess for the time being, we will just need to play Sonic Mega Collection Plus on our original Xbox (or Xbox 360 using the backwards compatibility update).

Dreamcast Planetweb Gone Again??

Well... I notice http://dreamcast.planetweb.com/ is dead now, it's sad. I e-mailed them and had them bring back that site for a bit, but it seems to be gone for good now unless I e-mail and see if I can extend the life any more, which seems very unlikely. It's mid-2007 now, and I doubt that they'll bring back the website for a console that has been dead for many years. I may give it a go sometime, but I think I recall saving all the Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Shuffle saves somewhere.. This is all that's required for my site, however... All those saves for so many other games are gone... I guess I just have to accept it. Most don't realize the secret that their .VMI files are a redirection to the true .VMS files if they had only entered that URL, but you need both files to download it I think. So that's how that goes.. Something like that.. Well my random visit comes to an end while I improve my skills more and stuff, and await the launch of Sonic Club 3.0 which could be anytime. I'm going to need to archive all the Sonic files around the internet though and a lot of the old news and information. Maybe people who were eager to help on this site won't mind helping with that. I wouldn't mind reviving the staff when my return time comes.

VIRUS FOUND & REMOVED!

First update in a while. Over time I was notified by a friend of mine, Blueknux, about my forum containing a virus. I didn't see how that was possible and I don't know how it got in here, maybe some type of upgrade? Either way it apparently caused an attempted virus download for people. I have removed this malicious code so it shouldn't be causing any more problems, sorry for letting it go on for so long. I spent well over an hour finding out all the source code to it and removing it, and I succeeded. I'm not sure what our admin lightsup55 thinks of this, maybe an upgrade he did somehow got a virus in it?

Anyway, here's the code and all the things I found out about this code.

WARNING! Who knew a book store was responsible for hacking, but then again after close examination maybe just one of those numbers brings you there?
SC2 has temporarily returned

The server costs us to run, so we want the bandwidth to go to use more. SC2 itself isn't very complete, but there are still several pages to visit, and a chance to see once again what Sonic Club was like several months ago. From what I remember, Sonic Club 2.0 was created back in early 2004, but was up for like a year and a half before being taken down for the countdown page. Sorry that SC3 hasn't launched yet, please understand I am the only one working with the HTML, content, and graphics at the moment, and when something comes up in real life, the site gets temporarily delayed. Causes include unexpected travels to resorts or family's places, family visiting here, and other unexpected events which get in the way and seem to keep throwing me off track. Please remember that I still have that dream of having the best Sonic site on the internet and don't plan on giving up that dream. I will carry this on as long as I can, money might become a problem in the near future though, so I either need to use ads, accept donations for the site, or get a job which would take a big amount of time away from time I could be working on the site or doing other stuff.

The time has come...

Well. I feel like there isn't too much more improvement to do on the actual design of Sonic Club 3.0, so I will just getting to creating the site content and hopefully having some downloadables and stuff. I was considering setting the launch date April 1, 2005, but it isn't enough time to prepare, the launch would be a mess if I tried that since barely any content is ready. I already decided that this design is too good to waste. The project of this new site started sometime back in the middle of 2004, so it's had a long miserable design process, many changes have been made. I am the only one actually working on the design though, and since I can't always be working on it, there has been days, weeks and even months where I haven't done anything with the design. I feel like I have put the release on hold for too long, so it will be released soon.

I will soon be setting a launch date. Forums will remain active, but main site will be shutdown to attract attention rather than it just being a lame notice that many people will overlook. All old un-necessary files will be backed up, then deleted from the server while SC 3.0 is secretly being prepared in the background. You will then be left with a single opening page with a countdown to the release of Sonic Club 3.0.

Here's my plan; I will probably try to have the site backed up and taken down by the time it hits April 1, 2005. The page and forums will then remain on the server in a useable state while Sonic Club 3.0 is being prepared and uploaded. Once the countdown page is added, a set release date will be set. Because of the lack of visitors due to no updates sometimes, I think it's only fair to give it a month so news will spread of the new Sonic Club and it will possibly attract more visitors, and give us a fair amount of time to prepare. March 1, 2005 (about a month from now), sounds like a decent release date. I will try to work hard on it, if I can calculate I will be done by an earlier date, I will set a shorter release date. This is probably my last announcement you'll get before the shutdown of the site and the opening of the countdown page, unless I post a warning message, or a goodbye message. Enjoy Sonic Club 2.0 while it lasts because it will probably never come back unless we decide to archive it for viewing purposes.

Bye for now!

Checking back again

Here I am again, nothing big to discuss, just wanted to let you know the Sonic Club 3.0 project is still in development and hasn't been scrapped. Lack of updates probably gives that impression, but not to worry.

Things are going slightly slower than usual because of other interuptions, but the new site is still being worked on, and more planning is being done to make it even better than expected.

The Sonic RPG Online Game we were developing has sorta been put on hold. We had a decent creation engine, but realised very soon after that it wasn't for us. We want to make a game that will allow customization of characters you make. So we might go to finding another good web based creation engine...

In other notes; looks like http://forums.sonic-club.com/ is going to be removed. The address will then be http://www.sonic-club.com/forums, which won't be too bad, but the first address looks slightly cooler. We wouldn't even be asking this if it wasn't costing us money to have it. That sub-domain costs us $2 a month on top of hosting fees. We aren't getting as much support as it is. We may bring it back later if we're bringing in enough money... Read the forums people...I have posted many topics, yet most of you are too lazy to read them, let alone post.. The forums are currently the most active part of the site. I suggest using it. We want to launch the site with lots of people expecting the rebirth of Sonic-Club.Com. It will truly be a great site so we want lots of people to see it when it comes.

Dreamcast users...get your dreamcasts fired up for the internet again because once Sonic Club 3.0 launches we will have a dreamcast page which will have lots of downloadables. Mostly for Sonic games, but others as well. We will have ALL the chao blackmarket downloads you would normally have to upload your SA2 save file for on the Sonic Adventure 2 homepage. We also have kart racing downloads, and other special events for all Sonic games, this will also include fan made chao and chao garden downloads and last but not least, game saves for all Sonic games!!!

For those of you who missed the announcement. SCR: Sonic Club Radio will relaunch with Sonic Club 3.0 when the time comes. Seems some of you are quite disappointed about the whole thing. Just wanted to make it clear that Sonic Club Radio IS coming back.

Remember the newsgroups? Sure you do unless you're just a newbie to the online Sonic community. After most of SC 3.0 is ready, we will be attempting to create an official site for Alt.Fan.Sonic-Hedgehog! This should hopefully give the newsgroups more attention, hopefully not the wrong kind of attention.

Many of these things have been mentioned in the forums though so I repeat READ AND REPLY TO THINGS IN THE FORUMS SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON IMPORTANT NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Guess that just about covers everything for now. I will try to keep you posted.

What I mean is things like the legal disclaimer page, as well as a few others are out of date. I hate the say it, but the legal page is like the oldest page on the site not changed much over the years and WILL be removed. It's lame anyway, and needs to be re-written to cover more technical topics and policies.

Sonic Club 3.0 project has been slowing down a bit due to running into conflicts, however, SC 3.0 has overgone massive changes. Our earlier project was Sonic Club Prototype 3.0. We are now in the Sonic Club Beta 3.0 stage, and the site has evolved quite a bit since the first layout changes. Soon we get to the Sonic Club Final 3.0 stage and after revising and double checking pages, Sonic Club 3.0 will be released. The beta stage will be over as soon as some of the main pages are added with the layout, then we will have it ready very soon after SC Final 3.0 comes out.

Okay, I seem to have the layout and navigation code working correctly, still working on the actual layout of the area content will go. After that I can start importing or adding code. After I figure out the layout part, it really won't be too difficult to add content, downloads might be the biggest problem until we get the nessecary bandwidth and space, which hopefully won't be very long.

Getting the layout setup is taking longer than expected, but I don't suspect it will be much longer. Thank you for being patient, and please post on the forums as it will help us to add things we weren't planning to to the new site. We are doing great so far, but comments, suggestions on improvements and content should be made if nothing else. I have posted many topics, I would like to see some replying, knowing that there are visitors that actually care about this project, or if I am making all this for nothing.

It's too bad, I was even providing a generous 20kb per second speed rate for anyone downloading from the downloads section...Only one or two people took advantage of SCR being up. The Downloads section; only several people took advantage of that. I saw some people get a few Sonic Underground eps, and some games. I have come to the conclusion that my server can handle the demand for atleast a short amount of time if I limit bandwidth on the site so lots more people can download. I think 5-10kb per second sounds fair for downloading off of our server since we will already be using our connection normally and on top of that hosting SCR which requires a bit of bandwidth. Sorry if you think the bandwidth limit will suck, but we see it as an advantage since even high speed DSL and Cable users will be limited to close to 56k rate, meaning someone can't quickly snatch a lot of episodes or music at once. It makes it fair. Those type of people won't be attracted to the downloads. If you disagree with our methods, take it to the forums.

That's right, we're doing our bandwidth testing now, so Sonic Club Radio and a downloads page will be temporarily running for a while. Take advantage of it. Check out main page on the site after entering for details. You'll easily spot it because it's near the top of the page and the title is in RED LETTERS. Read the info before clicking the links too, note that it may go out at any time, and if it does go away, it might come back again soon after also as we will be trying different server software once in a while probably.

Okay, so it isn't exactly new stuff, to a lot of you it may be though if you're fairly new to the site. Above the update box on the main page of the site you will see a Navigation Menu to access these pages, they WILL NOT be on the normal menu, so make note of that. Hopefully that will be enough to keep everyone happy until the release of Sonic Club 3.0. Be sure to tell your friends that Sonic Club is slightly updated and that within a couple months you can expect to see the new and improved Sonic Club 3.0.

By the way, I recently checked my mail account on Sonic Club and saw several form submissions. Since it's sorta un-reliable to e-mail all of them back (by the time I do, in most cases addresses are invalid, or they had entered it wrong). Here are the answers to commonly asked questions:

Q: Sonic Club Radio won't work!!!!! What's Wrong?
A: Sorry, but because of minimal use, we felt that it was a waste of money to simply run this free service when not much is happening with the site. The picture has now been taken down temporarily, SCR will return with the launch of the new site.

Q: When will there be episodes/downloads online?
A: When Sonic Club 3.0 goes online, we will have all of that. Lower quality episodes shall be in RealPlayer format, while slightly high quality, or much higher quality will have AVI format or any other high quality format we happen to use. Please be patient. There has also been requests to have Sonic X 1-52. We will try to have both dub and japanese. If only one then it will be dub since that seems to be the most requested version.

That's all for now.

Sonic Club 3.0 - Update

Just though everyone would like an update on what's going on with the project. The graphics and layout are nearly complete. I have yet to design an intro page which won't be too hard to accomplish. Most of the work now is just a matter of getting the content into HTML format and uploading files. What use is a good layout if you got junky content. Also note to those that haven't checked out the forums. I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my last update or not, but Sonic Club Radio WILL go back online with the launch of SC 3.0. Read my last update for more info on the new site. If there is something you feel we should have something on our site that you don't see on other Sonic sites, please feel free to post a topic in the forums about changes you would like to see to the site for sure. We may need to find a secondary host for files and image galleries, etc. I say this because although we will provide what we can on our server, speed is the problem on the connection it's on, plus our domain may not have the space and bandwidth we require. We will try it to see how it goes though at first and let you know if we in-fact require more space and bandwidth.

Sonic Club 3.0 - New Project in the works

Guess I should fill you guys in on what's been going on and why there hasn't been any updates seen on the site. Well, just so I don't lose any more visitors, and hopefully gain more that keep checking back. I will say I have a huge update coming pretty soon probably. I've been working on a completely new layout and planning out how things will be on my site. It's been going slower since I have been like the only one working on it. Don't know where lightsup55 went, probably busy or something since I haven't seen him for a while.

Anyway, i'll keep it short since I always seem to get off subject. You may think the current site you see is great; I have gotten lots of compliments about the current look, but my new layout will make the old one look like trash, seriously. It's a very professional, new and sleek design that will out-do most if not all Sonic sites. With my massive collection of content that I plan to add to the site, it will be not only a huge site, but very easy to navigate, and have a great looking design.

The site will keep the same name and all, but there will be some huge changes, for example, there will be no more frames, other things are the site will also be compatible with 800x600 screen resolutions and above, and we're working on compatibility for all browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla Firefox, and more. Another big thing you'll notice is we're going to be leaving the dark theme. Our site will look more colorful and futuristic, brighter color theme.

Keep in mind also that although the layout is basically ready, this is a layout that shall not be wasted. It will come pre-loaded with lots of content, then often updates will follow soon after.

Prepare for Sonic Club 3.0...

Thanks for the compliments you've given on the site everyone, also compliments on the station. Some of you seem to think this site is awesome right now, and maybe it is, although unfortunately there isn't too much content. You'll be in for a big suprise soon though (if things go according to plan, which i'm sure they will). As for SCR, a few of you seem disappointed, SCR will be returning, so don't worry. Unfortunately the DNS2GO account has expired though and I will have to re-register it. Accounts only last for a year before needing to be paid for again though, so I was hoping to make the address work when it will be in use a lot.

Note to guestbook signers, I suggest joining the forums, there are others there to talk about the site development with and other stuff. I even reply to posts so you would get a chance to talk to me. So please join the forums in the community section located on the menu on the left. Also only join if you intend to keep posting once in a while. I'm getting tired of those who make accounts and don't finish registration or join, but never post. It's obvious, but did I mention?

JOINING THE FORUMS IS FREE!!!

Just saying that in case anyone was hesitating because they thought it costs money, because it doesn't.

SCR Notice

I decided that although SCR was said to not be online anymore until further notice, I decided that my server will be used for certain things, and while that is happening, the station will run. So in other words, as long as I have the server on at different times, the station should work. So just try to listen to it and maybe you'll be lucky and be able to connect. I will try to leave it on when people are listening, but the server will go offline without notice so there may be times when you can't connect, maybe even days at a time. At this moment the station is online though since the server is on as I post this.

SCR Temporarily Offline

Sonic Club Radio will be temporarily offline until further notice. There were no problems at all except for the fact that the server runs 24/7 and most of the users that did listen to SCR would only listen for a few second or a few minutes and that's it, then no one listens for a while. I know some people like it and do listen to it for hours sometimes, but it just isn't enough to make it worth leaving online. The server is ran from my location on a computer turned into a server, and that server consumes power.

I am not making any money off my station or my site, in fact, hundreds and probably a few thousand have gone down the drain in the whole development of this site. So I figure why waste even more money having something else online that costs me even more, something I have control over if it uses money or not. Hosting fees are enough, and I don't need to worry about my DSL connection getting lagged, power being consumed, and wear and tear being put on the server. The fact that it's on 24/7 constantly consuming power and the fact that more wear and tear is being put on it is more than enough of a reason not to have it online. I need to save the server for times when it is really needed, such as like when this site becomes popular and attracts lots of traffic.

I hope everyone understands the situation. I need to focus more on the site itself rather than letting more money be wasted when it doesn't have to. Without having to worry about the operations of the server, it should free up more time and stop wasting money.

If there is enough demand from people in the SCR forum in the Sonic Club Forums, then maybe I will consider putting it back online if people really care. Sonic Club Radio isn't gone for good, in fact, it can be put back online in minutes. Just think of it like Sonic Club Radio is taking a vacation from all it's hard work. It will definitely be back, but I hope to put it back online once more of the site is completed and more people visit this site.

Site progress

Things are coming along a little slower than expected, but I can assure I am working on the site, it would be pretty stupid to waste all that money, then shutdown the site, right? I'm going to make this site into something great before I ever consider anything negitive like that.

Anyway, as you can see, this site is decent, but not much around anymore, the forums work though, so check them out, they aren't very active right now, it's pretty embarassing though, there has got to be around 40 or so members, yet only a couple or few post, and I am one of those people that do post occasionally.

The next update you'll see will blow our current site away, we have decided to leave our site's dark look and move to something with more color and better graphics, and unlike quite a few of sites that are appearing around the net now, there won't be any stolen layouts, what you will see is something unlike just about anything you've seen on a Sonic site before. As you know this site will also provide tons of great content and services that other Sonic sites don't have. You can't expect a whole lot to get done, I don't have a huge staff or anything like other sites. A few people sometimes help with different things on Sonic Club, but I am basically the main one that is responsible for content and graphics, and hosting stuff / paying for the cost of the site. Although there are many things causing delay such as a screwed up PC and other problems I have to deal with, all I can really say is that I am working on it.

I hope that's enough to keep everyone happy for right now. I will try to speed up a bit on the project though. Be aware that I can't just host some of my huge files whenever I want, like Sonic cartoons. That will take a bit longer until I am able to upgrade my internet connection to handle more bandwidth output and/or find a place to put the files. I already got a server with lots of space to host the files on, my main problem as of now is getting the high speed connection, My connection is a decent high speed connection, but can't handle a whole lot more other than downloading stuff and hosting Sonic Club Radio, the upload speed SUCKS! 17 KILOBYTES PER SECOND MAXIMUM!! The download speed on my connection is about 150-160 Kilobytes per second, again, that's KILOBYTES, NOT KILOBITS. That there tells you that my high speed connection sucks, some of my friends are able to upload at like 30 Kilobytes per second or more. If I had that kind of speed, I wouldn't have as much trouble hosting stuff, anyway, that's all for now.

Despite the fact that I haven't been able to successfully finish what I intended, I will just forget about keeping the station and server offline. As always, unexpected events and such slow down the rate the site is updated by quite a bit, and since that has happened, server operations will return to normal. I will put it offline real quick when the time is right to add the update. I probably shouldn't take it offline unless I can definitely get what I was planning done in a few days atleast. Sonic Club Radio and the HTTP server should work again like always. Thanks for being patient.

I decided to disconnect Sonic Club Radio, the HTTP and FTP server completely until this Friday (8/13/04). During this time I will try to make more free space on the server, tweak the settings for better speed and performance, and move Sonic Club Radio's site to our main server (sonic-club.com).
SCR moving to sonic-club.com

To speed up the load time of the Sonic Club Radio site, and for easier maintaining of the page, it shall be moved to the Sonic-Club.Com servers, so soon instead of the address being http://sonicclub.dns2go.com/scr/ it will be http://www.sonic-club.com/scr/. Be sure to update your bookmarks, even after the site is moved though, for quite a while there will still be a page linking to the new one. HTTP on our sonicclub.dns2go.com server will soon be repaired so that it can handle providing some of the bigger files that will be on our site. If you have a problem with this plan, post a complaint in our forum.

Meanwhile, in conclusion to this post, I will say that I will be trying to fix up the pages I once hosted within the past couple years. Such as the midi page, faq, downloads section, and the many other pages Sonic Club used to have, but were taken down due to layout changes. I may even sloppily put together pages or re-add stuff we had before just to last until next updates to come.

Like I said before, I have some personal problems to deal with, mainly getting things organized and repairing my PC, or dealing with other problems such as that. I should probably plan out my life better so that Sonic Club gets worked on a little each day or several times a week at the least. Thanks for reading and visiting Sonic Club regularly. We apologize for any and all delays which have occured.

No one cares what happens?

I have posted a few topics throughout the forum where you can give your opinion on certain things, I have asked what you would like me to do with certain things on the site, if you guys don't respond soon, I will decide everything for myself and you might not like a few changes. There are 44 members on the forums, and none of them have responded to the topics. If you don't respond maybe ~Sarcastic~ i'll assume you guys actually don't like to see new updates. HAHAHA..ok, i'm done. This situation has gotten me a bit irritated, so I think I will just do what I want with the site, and I just might once in a while check on what people have posted, just to see what everyone wants to see on Sonic-Club.Com. Updates will be slow since I can right now only work on the site using a laptop that has absolutely none of the site content. My PC is currently damages/broken, and it freezes for no reason and stops working for a long time, that's why I don't just use that. Lets hope I can make some decent stuff around here with the setup of this computer..

When to expect updates

Sorry for not doing much updating, but ever since the crash of my main computer, my hard drive, and other stuff that has been going on, it has been difficult to work on the site much. I have some problems to sort out before I start getting serious about the site. Hopefully it won't take very long, An estimate of the amount of time this will take is less than a month. I have to organize and backup files on my un-organized computers. I also need to check the Sonic Club records to make sure exactly who is still actually a member or able to be a member of this club. As you know, Sonic Club started off as just a simple club, an offline club. That's right, an actual club, no website or internet forms, a real club that certain people in our area and other places could join. We had quite a few members too, times have changed though, and people have moved away or disappeared over the years, so we either have to re-gain contact with those people or remove them from the club. I am aware that I have a lot of time to make up for, it's not like I am lazy and just avoiding my site either, I haven't been online too much either, the times I have been online it's mainly maintaining the server, checking e-mail real quick or researching something. Unfortunately I have been neglecting my online friends too. I got lots of other stuff I could go on about, but I will skip it for now, I don't think it's anything you guys would care about. I was hoping this would be the year I succeed with this site, but so far I am off to a terrible start, the beginning of the year was great, but after that things just started falling apart.

During typing this I think I now know what is screwing me up with getting a lot done on the site, it isn't anything to do with just me or just the site, or me being lazy, but things that get in the way or cause depression. Any problem that gets in the way makes it that much harder to get going on the site, I am confident if I am able to eliminate these problems, there will be a much higher success rate for this site. I have lots of great plans to come for this site and don't even plan on dropping the project, too much money has gone down the drain on this project and I intend to complete this project and continue it for a very long time and gain back what I lost in the making of this site, the thousands that have gone down the drain in the years this site has sat here rotting, the domain, the upgrades, the server and server power costs. One thing I can't make up for is lost time though. All I can do is make use of time I have and get a lot done. I started this site back in the very beginning of 1999, I had a chance to succeed, but I never took it, I let it pass me by, and I will prove I am still capable of making this site succeed by making it better than all others, it may take a few months or something, but I WILL pull it off.

Also a note to current members or those who have been wanting to register. I apologize for shutting down the members area, but it was pretty pathetic, the setup was too simple, and I would have no way of knowing of a member gave the password and username to someone else, or even left and never returned. I intend to get a good member management script and put tons of exclusive content in there. Those who joined before can contact me when it's time and prove that you joined before by providing the e-mail you signed up with and possibly your name. We will continue to try to make Sonic Club a free site, with no annoying pop-ups and all that other kind of junk. We will however have to make Sonic Club more difficult to join, we can't just accept anyone, that person must truly be a Sonic fan, and not someone that just wants to take advantage of the great stuff we will provide.

Thanks for reading. I know I have said this kind of stuff before and never did much, but I do mean it, remember that. That concludes my 'speech', there aren't any typo's, are there? lol

Updating Priorities

I have a lot of time to update, and the biggest updates in demand seem to be downloads, and the web directory as well as the members area. I will work on that stuff as much as possible, but keep in mind it's not just as simple as getting on my computer and working on my site. My main computer has this problem with the motherboard or processor, and I am not exactly sure which it is yet. I would say my biggest, most depressing problem I have though is my PC's hard drive. I had my windows operating system and stuff running great, and then all because of this one simple, stupid accident, the hard drive stopped working. So I have two options, 1. get another of the exact same kind of hard drive, or 2. pay lots of money to get the data recovered or something. Either way, it won't be too cheap, and if I find out I can't fix it myself, it'll probably end up costing even more. The hard drive has my perfect windows installation as well as the windows installation backup, and other un-replaceable files. It will get rid of a lot of stress and worry if I can get that working, allowing me to focus more on my site. Even with this continued problem, I will try to get some work done on my site. I may put up some old stuff atleast, you know, things I have had before, but were taking down due to updates and people direct linking files. The members area for sure will be nothing like before. It was a very lame setup, not only was I unable to completely keep track of which members were still around and stuff, but it took a lot more effort on my part to accept members and give them the information, etc. I hope to have a great members area that will run on some kind of script that manages members better. It would only be logical that members get special things that non-members don't, otherwise it would be quite useless. I also realized it would be pointless if people could easily sign up for free and access in minutes. That is why there may be some kind of Sonic test to get in, or some kind of one time fee. We will only consider the one time fee or occasional payment idea if we provide great things like high quality Sonic episodes, and other things that normal visitors don't get. I will let you guys know a little later on what we decided on.

Sorry guys, I haven't checked that e-mail for months, that's how much behind I am on things, I'm just now replying to some feedback and stuff. Someone asked when the downloads will be up, the truth is, there were quite a few downloads before, but because of people linking to files directly and such, we took them down, don't worry though, we'd love to have them up ASAP, we're working on it.

We would like to also thank everyone that has e-mailed us commenting on Sonic Club Radio.
Sonic Club Radio Update

Ok, I removed the old Sonic Heroes songs and put in new ones that don't have cut offs, plus the titles are more clear, you can actually see the same of the song, the old ones were labeled in a way that no matter which Sonic Heroes song it played, it said the same thing, also a nice little collection of cool Sonic X songs have been added. Mostly Japan Sonic X songs like T.O.P, etc. Enjoy.

See? I'm atleast making an effort to do some updating, lol

Do you think I LIKE not updating??

That's not true at all if you've been thinking i'm too lazy and all that, truth is, i've been having PC problems and other things are getting in the way, I will try to manage my updating better, I pay for this site to run, hundreds per year, and i'm not rich or anything, maybe i'll put up a donation thing so when I get more updating going, people can help pay for server and site costs. The fact is, because this site has been online so long and so much money has been spent, i'm not about to let that all go to waste, so remember that, ok? Next thing I want to say is about a new site policy I am going to put up, i'm getting VERY tired of people linking downloads off my site and using up all my bandwidth, it just costs me more money, so to get to the point, I think I will take the site offline for a week at a time if people do download, then a link to the loser's site will be posted up so you know who to be mad at. There are specific people I may occasionally give permission to have stuff, a page for those people will be put up so you know what's ok and what isn't. Thanks for reading this little thing, if you have any suggestions about the site, please, feel free to use our feedback form, that's what it's there for, suggestions are always considered and saved for later reference, so don't be shy, if you have some great ideas, send them to us using our feedback form near the bottom of the opening page (on the same page that contains the update box).
